ATEX It is of paramount importance that all design takes into account the parameters of site conditions in respect to the gas or dust environment and all clients must indicate if and what areas are zoned for hazardous gases or dust. ATEX 94/9/EC is the directive on equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. This directive is now EU law and any equipment, electrical or mechanical for installation within the EU member states must comply. In the dust extraction business we handle dusts within dry filter collectors that must have ATEX tested and approved explosion panels, these dusts include aluminium, titanium, and most wood dusts. Together with a potential client we must have a risk assessment on the area our equipment will be situated, what dusts or fumes are being handled and make a final recommendation to ensure our equipment complies with the current regulations. Our photograph below shows two off Gas Turbine Ventilation Centrifugal fans for offshore use, these fans are designed and manufactured for Zone 1 application.
